Your path to a licence — four steps
- Step 1
Choose your course
Most people start with the CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations — the entry requirement for a QLD unarmed security officer licence. Renewing? Take the revalidation course instead.
- Step 2
Check your funding
Eligible Queenslanders pay a $20 co-contribution under Career Start instead of the standard fee (from $950).* One phone call confirms it: 1300 718 005.
- Step 3
Train — online + face-to-face
Classroom delivery with practical days combined with some online theory modules at your nearest campus. Up to three weeks depending on the option you choose.
- Step 4
Get licenced, meet employers
Apply to the Office of Fair Trading (ID, fingerprints, history check) — we guide you through it, then arrange introductions with security employers across South East Queensland.

How long does it take to get licenced?
The course takes up to three weeks (blended). After that you apply to the Office of Fair Trading with ID, fingerprints and a criminal-history check.
